Snoring

Snoring

Snoring is a serious problem for the second person
Snoring – it is often viewed as no more than just a harmless but annoying habit. At worst it can disrupt relationships, and increasingly partners choose to sleep in different rooms to combat the fatigue that it can cause a bed partner. What most people don’t know is that snoring has an impact on the snorer’s health – reducing the quality of rest and reducing the oxygen supply to the tissues of the body. Left unchecked it often progresses into sleep apnoea, with more serious health problems.

Snoring is caused by dysfunctional breathing. Whereas the normal intake of air in healthy breathing is around 6 litres per minute, snorers can be breathing twice that much or more. The snoring sound is caused by a high volume of air moving through the irregular surfaces of the airway. This large volume of air not only causes snoring but a number of other health problems as well. By reducing the over-breathing, the snoring is eliminated leaving everyone to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep. The best and most successful way to combat snoring is to treat the cause – dysfunctional breathing. At Buteyko Vitality over-breathing is combated through special breathing exercises that reset the breathing centre to tolerate a healthier level of carbon dioxide and quieten the breathing. We also address habits that cause dysfunctional breathing and look at how you can eliminate snoring forever.
